REVIEW: Beguiled by Terri George

TITLE: Beguiled

AUTHOR: Terri George

SERIES: The Frost Trilogy #1

PUBLICATION: June 29th 2014 by Amazon Digital Services

Some men are just too hard to resist, and Nick Frost is Irresistible: a Man with a capital MUH; a Man who knows what he wants and will stop at nothing to get it.

Mia James isn’t looking for a relationship much less a one-night stand and Nick’s efforts to ‘woo’ her only confirm her suspicion that he’s a Player of the highest order.

In Nick’s head it’s a done deal. Mia’s The One. But nothing is simple in life or love. He’s willing to hand Mia his heart, but will he let her into his head? Will he trust her with the secrets from his past?

Mia can fight it all she likes, but their attraction is off-the-charts, and there’s only so much temptation a girl can resist. The question is; can she trust and give herself completely to a man who keeps so much hidden?

I received the book from the author in exchange for an honest review
This is Terri George's debut novel and let me say she did a really great job.

The story has some fine quality: it's sexy, funny, intriguing with a hint of mistery.

The hero is Nick Frost, an Alpha man, a man with the capital Muh. He's rich, gorgeous, powerful, sexy, arrogant, a control freak. I can see the fascination, but at first I didn't like him, I thought he was the usual character already seen in so many erotic books.

I changed my mind the moment he met Mia.

Mia is the heroine, she is smart, funny and charming. She's friendly, the girl I would like to have as a friend. She has a determined personality and for a brief moment I believed she wasn't going to fall for Nick. But between Nick and Mia there is chemestry at first sight.

Beyond the undeniable sexual attracion Mia can sense there is something else, that maybe his attitude is only a way to protect his heart as she is protecting hers. But secrets are the most dangerous things that can put at risk their relationship.
I loved the secondary characters like Jen and Aiden (please, please read their story in Torn!!) and Nat & Hugo (I'd love a book just for them).

Warning: the book ends with a cliffhanger. And this is the point where I always hate the author!

Terri George you're forgiven only because I don't have to wait to read the sequel (lucky girl!)

Book language: British! Blimey, it's bloody brilliant!

From a small child I have loved to lose myself in stories. I’m a firm believer that if heaven exists, it contains every novel ever written and has big squishy sofas to curl up on and read for all eternity.

My comedy play, The Magazine was performed at The Bush Theatre in London and my poetry has been published in several anthologies. However, what I really wanted to write were novels. With several unfinished manuscripts languishing in the depths of my computer’s hard drive, it was my discovery of Erotic Romance that led me to the realisation this is the genre I should be writing.

As English as they come, I couldn’t survive without tea. From Aerosmith to Rachmaninov, my taste in music is best described as eclectic. And I make a mean chocolate cake.

I currently live in London, England, but dream of moving to the coast. A long held desire I really hope to fulfil one day.

TWO BOOKS, ONE REVIEW: Bittersweet and Steadfast by Sarina Bowen

TITLE: Bittersweet

AUTHOR: Sarina Bowen

SERIES: True North #1

PUBLICATION: June 14th 2016 by Rennie Road Books

The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago.

At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings and a dotty grandfather. He doesn’t have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price.

Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither was Griff Shipley. But she needs a second chance with the restaurant conglomerate employing her. Okay—a fifth chance. And no self-righteous lumbersexual farmer will stand in her way.

They’re adversaries. They want entirely different things from life. Too bad their sexual chemistry is as hot as Audrey’s top secret enchilada sauce, and then some

SERIES: True North #2

PUBLICATION: July 12th 2016 by Rennie Road Books

She’s the only one who ever loved him—and the only one he can never have.
Jude lost everything one spring day when he crashed his car into an apple tree on the side of the road. A man is dead, and there's no way he can ever right that wrong. He’d steer clear of Colebury, Vermont forever if he could. But an ex-con in recovery for his drug addiction can’t find a job just anywhere.

Sophie Haines is stunned by his reappearance. After a three year absence, the man who killed her brother and broke her heart is suddenly everywhere she turns. It’s hard not to stare at how much he’s changed. The bad boy who used to love her didn’t have big biceps and sun-kissed hair. And he’d never volunteer in the church kitchen.

No one wants to see Sophie and Jude back together, least of all Sophie's police chief father. But it's a small town. And forbidden love is a law unto itself.
I received the books from the author in exchange for an honest review

Bittersweet is the first standalone in Sarina’s new series True North. As always she never dissapoints me. Her writing is beautiful, rich and engaging.
The first thing I loved about this book was the setting: a farm in Vermont. The descriptions about that place were so vivid I could picture it in my mind, even smell the fragrance of apples.
Then there is Griffin and Audrey's story.
Griffin is the grumpy farmer. He's a young man, and life has already asked him to make a choice: to be a successful football player or run his family farm. And Griffin knows the answer: he won't never let his family down. He's straightforward and reliable, always there to help and support each and every single person close to him. Plus he is sexy as hell.
Audrey is the city girl, grown in a rich family and under the shadow of her mother, a controlling and business focused woman. Audrey could never live up to her expectations, but I loved her determination to make her own decisions and follow her dreams, facing hard times but with the awareness of doing the right thing only for herself.
Their story started and ended back at college and now after some years apart life gives them a second chance. They're personalities can't be more different, but toghether they are the right match.
I fell in love with Griffin' family. The Shipley's are such a beautiful, loving, caring and funny family that is impossible not to love them all, and to desire to be part of it.
And I also fell in love with the secondary characters, Griff’s mom and siblings were great as Zach and Jude.
This story is told from both Audrey and Griffin's POV and it's romantic, sweet, sexy and there’s no unnecessary drama. The dialogues between all characters are friendly, witty and funny.
Sarina Bawen with this book brings to life a new great series with a beautiful combination of likable characters, unique setting, and a sexy romance.
If I loved Bittersweet, I loved Steadfast even more. This second book in True North series has captured my heart. A story I didn't expect, that has made me cry and overwhelmed me with emotions.
Steadfast is Jude's story, featured in Bittersweet. He's an ex-convict and drugs addict. After spending some years in prison and then in rehab, he has the chance to start a new life. The Shapley family are the first one to support him, but after a few months working at their farm he has to go back to reality and to return to the last place he wants to be: home. Here he has to face bad memories, an alchoolic father and struggling to stay clean. But in his darkness there is a light: Sophie.
They love each other since they were teen, but she's the daughter of the chief of the police. Sophie's father has always disapproved their relationship. But what they both don't know is that he's keeping a dangerous secret from them. Something that could have changed their lives when Jude was arrested and that could change also their future.
Jude is a broken soul but he's strong, sweet, honest and determined to change his life and be a man worth of Sophie's love. And she loves Jude unconditionally. I loved Sophie's strenght to fight against all harshness, even againts her family.
Drug addiction in this book plays a main role, and I liked how Jude fights to keep his recovery on track not to win Sophie's love, but because this is what he wants for himself. He wants to be a better man for himself, not to go back living in the darkness, but to live in the light. And there is no better motivation than this.
Their love story is incredible, strong, fierce, breathtaking.
Steadfast is an amzing story, realistic, inspiring and full of emotions.
This book has broken my heart, made me cry, but at the end the feelings left are only of hope and love.
Sarina Bowen in this book proves her greatness handling sensitive topics with grace, with heart and mind and the originality that makes her writing unique.
This is a standalone, but I suggest to read Bittersweet as the Shapley family have a big role in Jude's life.

BLOG TOUR: S.H.A.Y. by Christina Leigh Pritchard

Title: S.H.A.Y. (The Almost Series #1)
Author: Christina Leigh Pritchard
Genre: Science Fiction
Publication Date: August 16th, 2016

“Experiment 318: Gone Rogue”

Shay is scientific experiment #318. Science may have created her, but she refuses to allow it to blind her to the difference between right and wrong…
Synthetic Hominid Assumed Youth (S.H.A.Y.) is eighteen years old, which means she has completed Phase One: Developmental. Shay no longer requires the assistance of her Optional Human Parent, Darla, who has guided her in the process of discovering her morality. Shay loves her easy, charming life aboard the marine research facility and doesn’t want it to change.
Phase Two: Experimental. All S.H.A.Y. ages 18-20 will experience loss…
Darla shouldn’t have to die because of an experiment. The thought of losing the only parent she’s ever known is too much. Determined to make sure the scientists at the facility don’t get their way, Shay entraps Darla in a transport device to escape across the Miami Border. There, on the mainland, law enforcement will keep her human parent safe.
Escape Mission: Failed…
Shay crashes into one of the Lone Keys off the coast of Florida, abandoned to all humanity, except for the stranger who drags her ashore. Shay must get Darla to safety or she will die of radiation poisoning trapped inside the Freeze Portal, but Shay can’t do it alone.
The boy who found her, an Ersatz Reproduction Intelligence Clone (E.R.I.C.), is her only hope. He has adaptation skills she needs to complete her mission. Eric was created by the same scientists who want to kill Darla, though. She tries to keep their interaction strictly business, but it’s hard to hate him. He’s flirty, charming and not to mention devastatingly handsome.
Shay must put her trust in Eric’s hands if she wants to save Darla from her fate. It may be worth her heart, but will it be worth her life?

S.H.A.Y. argues with the E.R.I.C.
“Well then, I’m not going to get in the water.” I bent over, grabbing my clothes. He helped me, handing me my shirt.
I snatched it from him. “I’ll just wait up here for you to get back.”
He laughed, poking me in the stomach. “Look, creampuff, I’m not going in without you.”
“Oh yes you will, or I’ll—”
“You’ll what? Talk to yourself some more?”
I narrowed my eyes at him, stumbling as I tugged my pants on.
“You’re the one who needs my help, remember?”
“You make me sick.” My shirt slipped down over my head and I struggled with the buttons.
He smiled. “Take your clothes off.”
“Don’t tell me what to do.”
Amie groaned. She stood beside me, rolling her eyes. “You’re just creating more and more sexual tension with the E.R.I.C. Soon, you’ll forget all about your Darla and I’ll have no human mother for S.H.A.Y. 319.”
“I won’t!” I unzipped my pants again. “I’ll do whatever it takes to save them both.”
Eric backed away. “Whoa, there, I was just teasing you.”
“I’m not talking to you.”
He rolled his eyes. “Right, I forgot, you have others here with you.”
“I’m not doing this for you, you’re the enemy. I’m trying to save my, my—”
“You’re trying to save your ‘what’ exactly?”
“It doesn’t concern you. Just follow me into the water. That way, we can get started.”
“Are you hitting on me?” His eyes widened. “I enjoy a little banter and all, but—”
I shoved him. “Like I’d ever flirt with you.”

About the Author
Love and Romance: it’s what makes the world go round and I love writing about it.
My men are Hot, Sexy and Bossy and my women Strong and Sassy and give as good as they get. I absolutely refuse to write weak woman because we don’t all need to be rescued, but we do all need the love and devotion of a good man. Oh, and plenty of sheet-clawing, body-rocking, mind-altering sex!
Despite all the hot sex, what I really write are love stories, jam packed full of emotion because I believe... When it comes to Love and Romance, neither should be anything less than Extraordinary.
From a small child I’ve loved to lose myself in stories. I’m a firm believer that if heaven exists, it contains every novel ever written and has big squishy sofas to curl up on and read for all eternity.
