REVIEW: Campaigning For Christopher by Katy Regnery

TITLE: Campaigning For Christopher

AUTHOR: Katy Regnery

SERIES: Blueberry Lane 2 - The Winslow Brothers #4

PUBLICATION: Published November 17th 2015 by Katharine Gilliam Regnery

Campaigning for Christopher is the fourth of four books about the Philadelphia-based, wildly-handsome Winslow brothers who are all on the look-out for love.

(Ummm...that's a lie. Skye, Elise and Margaret simply aren't the sort of girls that share. And frankly, with the election right around the corner, Chris doesn't have any time for love either...)

Christopher Winslow, the youngest of the four Winslow brothers, was born with a silver spoon in his privileged mouth, which has made it difficult for him to establish his credibility in the fast-approaching congressional race. Working against the clock to assure Pennsylvania voters that he is forthright, trustworthy and able has been an exhausting challenge, but Christopher's chances at beating the incumbent look good.

Julianne Crow, a plus-size model struggling to make ends meet, jumps at the chance to make a little extra cash on the side. What does she have to do? Slip something into Christopher Winslow's drink and take some very naughty pictures with him.

But Christopher is nothing like Julianne expected, and when her actions sabotage his hard-earned campaign only a month before the election, her guilt is overwhelming. She offers Christopher her help in an effort to repair the damage she's caused, but can anything change the fact that he sees her as an opportunist and a mercenary? When she starts campaigning for Christopher, he may find out there's more to her than meets the eye.

Return to the world created in the English Brothers books with this fresh foursome of scorching hot Winslow Brothers!

Katy Regnery never miss to amaze and surprise me. This is another unique, fabulous, heartwarming story.
The storyline is unique, lust at first sight turninig into betrayal that turns into love. A rollercoaster of emotions. Not too sweet, not too dramatic, I found all the best thing I love in a book.
The main characters, Julienne and Christopher, are gorgeous but not perfect, they are strong but they have doubts at the same time. This makes them more real and the connection with them is instantaneous.
Julienne is an American Indian and this has hooked me from the beginnig. She's smart, beautiful but she has got a very sad and tough childhood. She's so different from all the other women. I loved how she's so passionate in what she believes, she's still learning the ways of the world outside the reservation and she's getting to know herself, and following her dream she makes mistakes but  she has the humility and the courage to fix them, even if this means to be hurt.
"It's never too late to make amends, Wichahpi. There is always time to reverse a wrong. Where there is right, there is a way."
The decisions she takes make her so human, she's a woman who wants to make a real difference in the world. The story behind this character, about American Indian, is one I wish to be told more in detail, but for obvious reasons (this is a romance) the author could only give the readers a glimpse of it. But this is something that kept my interest in the book at high level.
"It was time to stop measuring her own worth through a lens of perceived discrimination."
Chritopher is... a Winslow!!! Gorgeous, sexy, smart, rich, sweet, driven, simply prefect. But he's more than that, he's a man that doesn't take his money and heritage for granted, he put his ambitions at the service of the underprivileged. Family for Christopher comes always first, politcs is only the means to change the world and make a difference.
"The success of a life isn't measured by one victory, he thought, but by the sum of all."
The relationship between Julienne and Christopher starts on the wrong bases, on betrayal, dislike and anger. And like in real life it takes courage to right the wrongs, to ask for forgivness, to forgive, earn redemption and trust again. They come from different social environments but they have the same dreams and they fight the same battles.
"In the strangest way, that's exactly what Julianne sensed now: that one of them was a hurricane and the other was the earth, and both were powerless to fight or stop the imminent collision of forces."
Katy's writing is always neat, fluent, appealing and it's impossible not to fall in love with her books.
With this book I have to say goodbye to the Winslow Brothers, but my heart is ready to cherish the Rousseaus.

REVIEW: Servicing The Target by Cherise Sinclair

TITLE: Servicing The Target

AUTHOR: Cherise Sinclair

SERIES: Masters Of The Shadowlands #10

PUBLICATION: July 28th 2015 by Evil Eye Concepts, Incorporated

A discharged Army Ranger, Ben considers his job as a BDSM club security guard to be an excellent hobby. He’s never been tempted to join in. But everything changes when the notorious Mistress Anne inadvertently reveals the caring heart concealed beneath her Domme armor.

Now, he’s set his sights on the beautiful Shadowlands Mistress. Maybe he’d considered himself vanilla, but she can put her stiletto on his chest any day, any time. He’ll trust her delicate hands to hold his heart. And if she wants to whip his ass on the way to an outstanding climax, he’s just fine with that too.

Sure, he knows she likes “pretty boy” slaves. And he’s older. Craggy and rough. And six-five. Minor hindrances. The mission is a go.

One simple word is the focus of this book: CHANGE.
One single word that can be your worst enemy.
For Anne change means lose everything: stability, friendship, love.
Anne has not a tragic past, it's not something overtly painful that leads her to be a Domme. It's something more intimate, something more subtle. When she was young, her father's job forces her family to move around the country and that meant to leave everything behind and start all over again, in addition to a protective father and family. To be a Domme for Anne means to take control of her life and emotions, now she's the one to decide to change or not, the overwhelming protection of her family doesn't apply at the Club Shadowlands. She's free. Behind her reputation of a sadistic Domme, there is a woman with a big heart, ready to protect and shelter abused women and their children. But Change for her is not an option.
"Like a soft rain, the notes spilled over her deck and joined with the evening. A slow song, but not sad. It reminded her that the fundamentals of life, living and loving and dying, held the same from generation to generation. That life could change for the better. She was changing, as was her world. Or maybe she should call it growing, rather than changing."
Until she met Ben, or I would say until she opens her eyes and really saw Ben. Because Ben has been always there, at the Shadowlands as a security guard, or as Anne would say the guardian dog.
Ben is a discharged Army Ranger, totally vanilla, but Mistress Anne has drawn his attention, and much more. Mistress Anne is sexy and misteroius to him. To know her better he's willing to try something new and enter the Club and be a one-night-slave for her.
For Ben change means to risk his stability, to let his guard down and blindly trust.
"Seemed as if ties born in blood and pain went deeper. Maybe that was why he felt so close to Anne. He'd trusted her to take care of him, and she handn't let him down."
Are Anne and Ben willing to change to find a new life and love?
"The earth is all about change. The seasons move from summer to winter. The continental plates push up mountains that the weather slowly grinds back down. On this planet, in this universe, nothing stand still."

I loved everything about this book, the story and the characters.
Mistress Anne is really a great: she's strong, determined and sweet and caring at the same time. The word change scares her, but she never gives up when she thinks she's doing the right thing. I loved the way she accepts to give up control, to see that life can be handled also with heart and trust and not only with a strong whipping hand.
Ben is not the usual, perfect, handsome man. He's rough inside and outside. Sometimes he uses more his brain than his heart, for sure he's not a man that submit himself easily, but for Mistress Anne, for love, he'd do everything. He's a protective man, but he has military experience, he knows when to cross the line and fight for someone else.
The story is focused on Anne and Ben couple, but I liked that the author surrounds them with all the other members of the Shadowlands. One of my favorite scene is the birth of Jessica and Master Z daughter.
And I loved the bond between all of the Shadowlands' members, always there to help and support each other. When Uzuri needs help to move in her new house all the members are there for her, real and loyal friends, everyone with different stories, but bond together with invisible ties not born in family blood but stronger than that.
The sex scenes, are well detailed and hot, emotionally strong but never brutish or obscene.
With this book, Cherise Sinclair confirm herself to be The Queen of BDSM Romance.

REVIEW: Champagne Kisses by Lynda Aicher

TITLE: Champagne Kisses

AUTHOR: Lynda Aicher

PUBLICATION: December 14th 2015 by Riptide Publishing

GENRE: M/M Contemporary Romance

The Christmas Eve wedding Evan Cleary pulled together in four weeks is crashing down around him and taking his fledgling event planning business with it. With an empty altar and over a hundred guests arriving soon, he turns to the resistant, gorgeous brother of the runaway groom for help.

When Richard Patterson’s flamboyant brother storms out hours before he’s scheduled to marry his equally dramatic partner, Richard is left dealing with the fallout. The last thing he wants is more drama, yet he can’t deny his attraction to the effeminate event planner trying to salvage the wedding.

Evan thinks his crush on Richard is a lost cause, but one steaming kiss later, he learns different. What starts as a night of hot sex turns into a connection neither expected. But Evan knows their relationship is hopeless unless the ultra-conservative Richard can embrace every part of him—both in private and in public.

A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley for review

This is the perfect short story to read on Christams Eve. Sweet and sexy.
Richard is gay, he lives his sexuality privately, he's not ashamed but "conservative" is the word that more suits his personality.
Evan is gay, and he lives his sexuality very openly, not ashamed to be effeminate. As an event planner he's in charge to organize the Christmas Eve's wedding of Richard's gay brother.
Richard is attracted by Evan, but he doesn't want to get involved, Evan is the opposite of the man he's looking for. He needs to overcame stereotype and his mannerism to surrender to his feelings for Evan.
When the wedding turns in a complete disaster with flying vases, Evan and Richard are thrown together to save the Christmas Eve party. And that night turns to be their night together. A very hot night!
The morning after Evan doesn't belive that Richard is going to change his mind, that he will always look at him as a "femme". Richard has to show him he's wrong.
I loved this short but intense story. It's the proof that sometimes oppisites attract. Both the characters are in different ways gorgeous and strong, but the feelings they have for each other bring out the best and sensitive part of them.
The happy ending is really sweet and this is a quick and lovely reading to start this Christmas Holiday with the right mood.
At the end of the book the author's note says that Richard and Evan are an established couple as secondary characters in her BDSM series, the Wicked Play series. Now I'm curious, can be these two men hotter than that? I'm assuming, yes they can.
Merry Christmas readers and enjoy your holidays with Champagne and Kisses!

REVIEW: Line of Scrimmage by Desiree Holt

TITLE: Line Of Scrimmage

AUTHOR: Desiree Holt

SERIES: Game On #2

PUBLICATION: Published December 8th 2015 by Lyrical Shine

Sometimes it’s not about winning…

One bad tackle. That’s all it took to put wide receiver Jake Russell in a cast for the rest of the NFL season. From being a high school all-star to getting drafted by the Austin Mustangs, football has been Jake’s life for as long as he can remember. It’s what defines him—because he has a secret he never shares. But now that he’s laid up in bed with a nurse displaying a lot of distracting bedside manners, he’s discovering life on the sidelines might have its perks. . .

One last paycheck. That’s all Erin Bass has left to her name when the resort she works at shuts down. Desperate, she agrees to be a caregiver to hardass jock Jake Russell, who also happens to be a memorable one-night stand. Before long, caring leads to daring new ways to catch up in bed, especially with Jake still in a cast. But with football on the sidelines, this time the game is serious. . .

ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

I loved this book more than the first one in the series. I connected with the characters from the beginning.

Erin Bass is a woman that doesn't trust professional athletes, being betrayed by one of them has left a deep scar in her heart.

Jake Russell is a NFL football player with a painful past and a low self-esteem as a man. He thinks to be nothing without football.
Without football, who was he? Football is who I am. Without it I'm just nobody. Worthless. Even less than that. It Was a lesson he'd learned in his childhood and he'd never forgotten it.

After a failing one-night stand and Jake's bad injury, Ivy, Jake's sister and Erin's best friend, plays matchmaker. Jake needs a full time assistance and Erin is desperately looking for a job. And what a perfect job than to assist Jake? Ivy's plan is going to cover both issues.

Being together 24h it's not easy. The chemistry between Erin and Jake is undeniable, and it's not something that goes away. The attraction is always there, each day growing more intense.

But they have built a line of scrimmage in their lives that seems impossible to overcome. Open up to each other, confess their feelings and their past is quite a mission impossible. That cause some friction and incomprehension. It takes tolerance and trust to build a strong relationship, they have to move past their lines of scrimmage to find the love they deserve.
It was like an imaginary line of scrimmage was drawn between them, the line players could not cross until the ball was snapped. He was on one side, Erin on the other, and no one was calling the plays.

Erin is a bit stubborn, she thinks too much and has a sassy mouth, but I loved how she takes care of Jake and kicks his ass when he needs it. Because Jake is really a jerk when he wallows in self-pity, thinking he is the only one in the world to suffer from a bad injury or a painful past.
And yet I loved how they deal with their problems and really try their best for their relationship to work.

Desiree Holt for sure knows how to write sex scenes! I don't want to spoiler, but I say only one word: DREAMS... WET DREAMS!
The story is engaging and enjoyable. This is a series I'm going to follow up.

Great Cover!

Paperback US:

I was born and raised in southern California and relocated to beautiful eastern Washington state. The rural small towns that speckle this vast area have inspired my ideal setting for most of the stories I write. The pine and tamarack trees covering the towering mountains, the shimmering lakes and rivers, the abundant wildlife and a feeling of a time forgotten, stirs so many of my creative juices. I can’t thank my parents enough for dragging this city kid on long roadtrips up to this rugged foreign area, because now it is my home and I truly love my life here.

Reading was something that spurred me to begin writing at a young age. I enjoyed creating characters, different settings, and describing anything and everything. Storytelling, I have found is something I have inherited from both of my parents. I love attention to detail, using words to fully bring the picture alive, that is something I got from my dad. Creating characters and figuring out their story and how to achieve their happy ending comes from my mom. Then there is the smell of a book, new or old, the weight of it in your hands as you balance it open, seeing all those beautifully typed words spun and woven into sentences, this was created by a writer. I knew that was what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Over the years I fiddled with a story here and there, but it wasn’t until 2015 that I realized it was time. Time to get those dreams down on paper (or my laptop) and so The Cloverleaf Series was born. Coming from a family that is focused on being involved in each other’s lives as much as possible created a great deal of inspiration and ideas for The Cloverleaf Series. My family is one that has weathered several terrible storms and still somehow keeps propelling forward. During those sunny times we can be seen gathered around, eating good food, sharing memories, and laughing until we can’t catch our breath. We fight hard and love hard.

Romance, I simply love it, that’s why I write it. I remember my mom giving me my very first paperback romance novel. It was a pretty exciting one filled with suspense and an overall excellent storyline, she had just read it and she felt it was suitable for my teenage eyes. That was it, I was hooked. I began to devour these romance stories that varied over the years from sweet to sultry, I consumed thousands of books and stories over the years. Each time I finished reading a novel, the desire to write my own grew stronger. As ideas for books swirled in my mind, it always had a romantic element to it, and I suppose it always will. What is there not to love about falling in love and finding that special person to share your life with? Who doesn’t wish for passion, butterflies in your stomach, and that happily ever after?

As a reader, I can’t even begin to thank all of the writers that have created so many emotions for me, falling in love with characters, mourning their loss, sighing as I close the final chapter or smiling when everyone lives happily ever after. As a writer, I just want to do the same.

REVIEW: Breaking Hearts by MJ Summers

TITLE: Breaking Hearts

AUTHOR: MJ Summers

SERIES: Full Hearts #4

PUBLICATION: Published November 17th 2015 by Indigo Group

Another unforgettable Full Hearts page-turner from MJ Summers . . .

Three years have passed since handsome, devil-may-care Trey Johnson betrayed his cousin, Cole, and left the family ranch in Colorado behind. Guilt-ridden, a reformed Trey has kept his nose to the grindstone and has done his best to distance himself from his reckless past. Now he’s shocked to discover that he is about to become a full-time father to his son, a child he barely knows.

Travelling to Brazil, Trey embarks on the fight of his life in order to bring his little boy home. Broke and very much alone, the last thing he expects is to find himself falling for Alessandra Santos, his son's nanny. The sparks between them fly, but is there too much at stake?

Alessandra, obedient daughter and top law student, always does what others expect. Whether trying to meet the expectations of her hard-nosed mother or the unreasonable demands of her employer, Alessandra finds it almost impossible to reach for what she really wants. But now that Trey Johnson has sauntered into her life, she will have to find her true voice or lose him forever.

Joined by the fate of a little boy, Alessandra and Trey must decide if they can find a way to open their hearts to each other or turn away from a chance at love.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

To read a MJ Summers' book, for me, is like to buy a ticket for a journey on a rollercoaster. I stay in line, waiting, the anticipation building, and when I'm up is exciting. Reaching the top I can see the beautiful landscape, I feel good and happy. Then I look forward and I see the void, and the descent is frightful, makes me scream, I don't want to go down and feel the stomach in my throat! But when the journey ends all the scary moments are already forgotten and I feel happy.
In this book we meet Trey again. He'd betrayed his cousin Cole and his family. Now, after some years, he's a changed man: he has a degree and wants to find a good job to support his son, Tomas. But an unexpected news changes everything. Gabriela, Tomas' mom has died, and Trey goes to Brazil to take care of his son. He's scared, but he wants to take his responsabilities and be a good father and a better man for Tomas.
At age twenty-four, he was preparing to start a new chapter in his life, one that was going to test his limits in every way.
When he arrives in Brazil, he finds out that Tomas' nanny, Alessandra, is not only an angel sent from heaven to look after his son, but she's also a lawyer. Alessandra's sweet, beautiful and smart, and she's willing to help Trey to get Tomas' custody.
The attraction between Trey and Alessandra is undeniable and more time they spend together, more their feelings become deeper. Alessandra is scared to confuse her love for Trey for the fear to lose Tomas. Trey is scared to mix up his love for Alessa with gratitude. They will have to make painful decisions and go through hell before finding heaven and be together as an happy family.
"It's going to be hard, I know that. But nothing in life woth having comes for free, does it?" - Trey
"No, your're right. Nothing comes for free. Everything has its price." - Alessandra
Trey and Alessandra are great characters, strong and smart, and I loved how they deal with their feelings and conflicts, making the story real. As in perfect MJ's style the sex scenes are steamy. The storyline is very well written and developped and unfolds smoothly. It's a book about take and give second chances, about family love and never give up on dreams. It's heartwarming, emotional, a MUST READ!
