REVIEW: Bidding On Brooks by Katy Regnery

TITLE: Bidding On Brooks

AUTHOR: Katy Regnery

SERIES: The Winslow Brothers #1 - The Blueberry Lane Series

PUBLICATION: May 11th 2015 by Katharine Gilliam Regnery

Bidding on Brooks is the first of four books about the Philadelphia-based, wildly-handsome Winslow brothers who are all on the look-out for love.

(Except Preston. He's been down that road before and still has the scars to prove it. And maybe Cameron, because he's super hot, but too hot-headed to be decent boyfriend material...)

Railroaded into a bachelor auction by his sister, Jessica, Brooks Winslow asks his friend, Skye Sorenson, to bid on him to avoid the possibility of any romantic entanglements. Fiercely competitive and protective of those he cares for, Brooks was profoundly affected by the loss of his father at an early age. A witness to his mother’s terrible loneliness and his siblings’ grief, the ex-Olympian has never allowed himself to fall in love.

Skye Sorenson, the plucky mechanic at Sorenson Marina, where Brooks moors his three sailboats, is a credible sailor in her own right…and has quietly lusted after Brooks for years. But her longstanding friendship with Brooks has always made romance seem impossible.

When Skye agrees to bid on Brooks, the two cast off for a weeklong ocean adventure on Brooks’ sailboat, The Zephyr, where the last thing Skye expects to lose is her heart.

Return to the world created in the English Brothers books with this fresh foursome of scorching hot Winslow Brothers!

New series, new borthers...this book is the perfect beginnig.
Skye and Brooks slammed right into my heart! They're passionate, sweet and have fears to face. For them the passage from friend-to-lovers is not easy. They've known each other since they were children and when their relationship change, they feel like they see each other for the first time, learnign once again to love and trust.
"Though she'd never stopped noticing how gorgeous Brooks was, something about the way he looked at her now made him feel new to her, and it was both exciting and confusing." - Skye
English is not my native language and I've never sailed, and sometimes it was annoying to stop reading to research new words, I just wanted to read the book no-stop till the end (not your fault dear Katy!).

The story is romantic, sweet, sexy and well developped. Katy Regnery knows how to balance drama and romance, humor and serious.
This book is a journey through friendship, family love and trust.
"She'd given him her heart, and somewhere along the way, she felt as though her soul had entwioned with his as well. Two things that lived separately and yet together: a brook and the sky, the wind and the water that coursed through both their veins. You needed both to sail. You needed both in tandem to achive perfection."
Let the wind and the water run in your veins, bid on Skye and Brooks, you won't be disappointed.

The Winslow Brothers books are a companion series to the English Brothers books, but all can be read as standalones. All books in The Winslow Brothers series are approximately 200 pages. The RWA classifies this as "Mid-length Contemporary Romance."

  1. I really want to try book by Katy! I have the two fairy tales one for next month. this one sounds REALLY promising. So we'll see how and what I schedule after I read those.

Sorry for disappearing I started a very intense course and so I have very little time to read (not just blogs - BOOKS! as well :( )

  2. Oh, I was MIA as well! Now I'm on vacation for three weeks and a lot of books to read that I don't know where to start. Thanks anyway to be back on my blog. I love your comments. :-)

    1. great to BE back :) and happy to hear you are on vocation! I'm having a course till the beginning of October so up until then I'll probably won't have to do anything BUT study. Hopefully I'll squeeze in a few books though from the last two weeks I think it's even less likely than I thought it will..
